Program Lead, Cohere Charity

Uganda

Micheal Gumisiriza is the program lead at Cohere Charity, where he advocates for refugee-led organizations in humanitarian response spaces. He has amplified the visibility of over 500 grassroots organizations to donors and helped mobilize funding for humanitarian crises in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of the Congo as well as for children with disabilities in refugee settlements in Uganda. He focuses on shifting power in the humanitarian sector, moving away from externally driven aid models toward approaches that are locally led and grounded in community expertise. He envisions refugee leadership as a standard practice globally, using a practical framework to scale human-centered, innovative humanitarian responses across Africa.
