Co-Founder and Programs Director, Because She Can

Kweyakie Afi Blebo is the co-founder and programs director of Because She Can, a nonprofit organization working to close gender and opportunity gaps in Africa's digital economy by building sustainable pathways for women and girls into technology. Under her leadership, Because She Can has reached more than 15,000 women and girls across more than 20 African countries through digital literacy skills education, mentorship, career development, early coding education, and access to technology, with university chapters in Ghana, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Kenya. Because She Can’s mentorship program has built a network of more than 300 mentors and mentees globally, with 61 percent of participants progressing into employment, entrepreneurship, or academic research pathways within six months. Kweyakie’s work focuses on closing the digital divide and advancing African technology ecosystems where women and girls have the skills, networks, opportunities, and representation to participate in and shape the continent’s digital future.
