The Museum

Opening June 19, 2026 The Museum presents the remarkable story of President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, America’s first Black president and First Lady. Dynamic exhibits across four floors explore the promise of democracy and the work of the Obama Presidency. Their challenges and accomplishments are rooted in the stories of the people, events, and policies that influenced them and continue to shape their legacy.

Museum Highlights

Yes We Can

The election of President Obama created a movement that energized millions of people to believe in their power to change their world for the better. Yes We Can celebrates the diverse tapestry of people driven to action by the 2008 Obama campaign. Explore Yes We Can and marvel at the stories of organizers, volunteers, and supporters who made November 4, 2008 possible. The dynamic exhibit includes film, images, tactile displays, and a colorful installation of 440 campaign buttons.

The Oval Office

Ever wonder what it’s like to sit in the seat of the President? Now’s your chance to find out! Walk through a full-size replica of President Obama’s Oval Office: sit behind the President’s desk and examine items that are unique to his presidency.

The Sky Room

Head to the top of the Museum for a view like no other. The Sky Room offers soul-stirring perspective and panoramic views of Chicago’s South and West sides, surrounded by the iconic words of one of President Obama’s most memorable speeches.

  • Toward a More Perfect Union

    Delve into iconic historical moments that helped shape the lives and values of President and Mrs. Obama. Become immersed in the  energy and enthusiasm of the groundbreaking presidential campaign and election.

    Revisit the Obama administration's hard-fought triumphs domestically and abroad, while learning about some ongoing challenges and unfinished work. Learn about the inner workings of the United States government and your own role in our democracy.

  • The People's House

    Take an intimate look at the First Family's years in the White House. Learn how the White House was transformed into a vibrant home made for everyone.

    Reflect on the collective responsibility we have to our democracy and join a community of changemakers past and present in action. 

  • The Sky Room

    The Sky Room, an awe-inspiring space at the very top of the Museum Building. Take in panoramic views of Chicago’s South Side, framed by 5-foot-high words from President Obama’s speech commemorating the march on Selma.

  • The Museum

    The Obama Presidential Center Museum is a world-class landmark that tells the story of our democracy through the lens of America’s first Black president and First Lady. Dynamic exhibits across four floors will highlight the events, policies, challenges, and accomplishments of the Obama presidency. The Museum is comprised of four levels of exhibitions and the Sky Room, a 5,000 square foot space that offers soul-stirring perspective and panoramic views of Chicago. Entry to the Museum is by time-ticket or event participation. Monday | 1 - 8 p.m. CTTuesday - Sunday | 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. CT

  • Forum Building

    The Forum Building is a vibrant community center that celebrates creativity and innovation. The Forum’s two levels are brought to life through power performances at the Elie Wiesel Auditorium, creative forms of expression in the Media Suite, and collaborative thinking in the Democracy in Action Labs. The Forum also features the Hadiya Pendleton Atrium, Tafari’s Kitchen, our Cafe, two courtyards, and one-of-kind pieces of art by Theaster Gates, Spencer Finch, and Tyanna Buie. Monday | 1 p.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday | 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Home Court

    Home Court is a 60,000-square-foot athletic and events space designed to strengthen the entire community and motivate people of all ages. Home Court offers programs inspired by President Obama's belief in the power of sports, mentorship, and connection. The two level space includes an NBA-sized regulation basketball court, seven flexible multipurpose rooms, two outdoor courtyards, and several multi-level seating areas for visitors.Monday - Sunday 12 p.m. - 8 p.m. CT

  • Chicago Public Library, Obama Presidential Center Branch

    Libraries are the beating heart of a strong democratic culture. Here we welcome local residents, scholars, and visitors from around the world to connect, reflect, and act. The Obama Presidential Center campus features a new branch of the Chicago Public Library that celebrates the rich history of Chicago’s public libraries and the powerful legacy of the Obamas.
