About the Artist: Muzhda, Razia’s Ray of Hope Foundation

Muzhda is a 14-year-old student from Kabul, Afghanistan who dreams of becoming a teacher when she grows up. She lives with her five siblings and her parents, who all encourage her studies. Muzdha says her mom always ensures that the children have new clothes and supplies for school, even when that means she can’t buy new clothes for herself. “My mom always tells me to never drop out of school for any reason,” Muzdha says. “I have no words to share how much I love her.”

Ngọc Ngân is 18 years old and attends 12th grade at her school in Vietnam. Her mom works as a chef’s assistant in a distant town to help raise money for the family, and she is only able to visit once per year. During those cherished visits, Ngọc Ngân shows her mom her drawings and tells her about her dreams of becoming a graphic designer. She loves to enter drawing competitions, and her mom’s sacrifice and support have made it possible for her to pursue her dreams of becoming an artist. “I love the creative process when I draw,” she says. “I can bring my imagination to life through pictures.”
