Construction update Jan. 2025: Glass and granite continue to climb

This year promises even more dramatic changes to both indoor and outdoor spaces at the Obama Presidential Center. As 2025 begins, union tradespeople continue work to finish closing the “envelope” of the building by finishing installation of glass and granite, which is now up to Level 7, where the Presidential Suite is located.
Interior windows on Levels 7 and 8 of the Museum Building are now framing views of Jackson Park, downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan.
The Home Court roof is now covered by acoustical panels that will tamp down reverberative sound in the Main Court and program rooms. Outside, the substructure for the basketball net-inspired triangular panels is being installed.
