Chris Barber
2025-2026 Obama Foundation USA Leader

Clinical Informatics Director, Value-Based Care, Intermountain Health
Perry, Utah
Chris Barber is the clinical informatics director for value-based care at Intermountain Health, a nonprofit health system where he leads the optimization of technical solutions to improve healthcare outcomes and reduce costs. His work focuses on aligning electronic health record systems with value-based care contracts, including Medicare Accountable Care Organizations, Medicare Advantage, and commercial payers. Chris successfully standardized technical approaches across risk adjustment, preventative care gap closure, and Medicare wellness visits over the last three years. This resulted in a 10% increase in Hierarchical Condition Category recapture—revalidating and documenting recurring chronic conditions—within previously underperforming regions. He hopes to influence others in the transition to value-based care.
