Owner and Founder, Breathing Through Life

Alyssa Bedard is the founder of Breathing Through Life, a full-spectrum doula service where she supports and advocates for equity in prenatal and birthing experiences. Alyssa spearheaded a community doula program for Medicaid families, providing complimentary birthing services to nearly 300 individuals, with the goal of addressing disparities in Black maternal health. She actively partners with local and state organizations across Florida to bridge historical gaps in medical providers’ approaches to maternal health. Driven by her own experience with inequitable maternal healthcare practices and commitment to patient-centered care, Alyssa leverages her doula work to challenge systemic inequalities and facilitates trainings and policy advocacy at organizations across sectors to ensure equitable healthcare access for all.
