Editorial Director, StoryWorks
Silver Spring, Maryland
Aallyah Wright is a national journalist and the editorial director at StoryWorks, a documentary theater company that transforms investigative journalism into free, community-centered public art. Through stage plays, cultural heritage preservation, and educational outreach, Aallyah uplifts local narratives from underrepresented communities that spotlight social and economic injustice and civil rights across Mississippi. She has helped assist with free acting classes, led award-winning productions, and a partnership with Delta State University to equip participants with skills to develop art exhibits, research historic sites, and create cultural heritage tours. Aallyah is also the award-winning national rural issues reporter for Capital B, a nonprofit Black news organization. As a proud Mississippi Delta native, Aallyah uses community-driven storytelling to train the next generation of artists and journalists, amplify marginalized voices, and hold institutions accountable.
