Elizabeth Rule is a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation and the Deputy Secretary for First Nations for New York Governor Kathy Hochul, the highest-ranking Indigenous affairs role in the state. In this role, Elizabeth supports Indigenous self-determination and well-being and fosters diplomatic relations between the state and the nine Indigenous nations within its borders. She is currently implementing three policy initiatives that will assess and redress derogatory depictions of Indigenous peoples in the State Capitol, introduce new rules for child welfare proceedings, and expand health care resources for clinics located on Indigenous nation territories.
