Mathilda D’Silva is the chief executive officer of Ocean Purpose Project, a social enterprise that promotes ocean conservation and turns ocean plastics into hydrogen. Mathilda works with low-income communities, Indigenous groups such as the Orang Laut, and scientists to drive innovative and inclusive sustainability strategies. Mathilda was formerly a TV producer and competitive dragon boater until an ocean pollution incident in 2015 adversely impacted her skin, hair, and immune system. As the granddaughter of a fisherman, she is passionate about empowering coastal communities throughout the Asia Pacific.
