Joaninha Vitoria Ximenes manages the sexual reproductive health and participation project at Plan International Timor-Leste. Joaninha works on community development and girls’ rights and empowerment at the municipal level, using a multi-sectoral approach, by coordinating and working closely with the local communities and village leaders, local implementing partners, and government stakeholders at the national level. Joaninha is passionate about building a Timor-Leste that is safe and supportive for girls and women, and she hopes to grow as a policymaker, advocating for laws that integrate their needs into the national agenda. Joaninha brings a grand and hopeful vision for Timor-Leste, one in which gender equality and youth issues are prioritized.
