Anthony Koka
2025-2026 Obama Foundation Africa Leader

Drama Commissioning Editor for African Original Series, CANAL+
Democratic Republic Of The Congo
Anthony Koka is a drama commissioning editor for African Original Series at CANAL+. Drawing on his background as an actor, his Congolese roots, and his upbringing in the underprivileged neighborhoods of Toulouse, France, he challenges the underrepresentation of Black voices in storytelling by crafting authentic narratives that drive meaningful social change. At CANAL+, Anthony has commissioned, developed, and co-produced over ten series for both Francophone and Anglophone Africa showcasing inspiring roles that reflect the continent’s diversity, contributing to an increase in African series broadcasts by the network. Beyond the screen, he leads a mentorship program supporting hundreds of students from underrepresented communities in Toulouse and has co-led multiple masterclasses across Africa, empowering emerging African filmmakers to bring their voices to the screen. Through these initiatives, he uplifts new generations of diverse storytellers to shape their own narratives and contribute to a more inclusive creative industry.
