Join the Chicago Philharmonic as it brings Side by Side, its flagship community program, to the John Lewis Plaza for the first time. This outdoor tradition brings together community musicians with the world-class musicians of the Chicago Philharmonic for an exciting summer-evening concert led by Artistic Director and Principal Conductor Scott Speck.

As part of our You Are America series, the program honors trailblazing artists including Florence Price, John Williams, Carlos Simon, and William Grant Still—bringing together musicians of all ages in a performance rooted in collaboration, connection, and the spirit of “We.”

Side By Side with Chicago Philharmonic is part of You Are America, a summer series of talks, films, and community events celebrating 250 years of American progress.

John Lewis Plaza

Named in honor of late civil rights leader Congressman John Lewis, the John Lewis Plaza is a lively and animated outdoor space that welcomes visitors to the Center. The Plaza–which serves as an entry point for the Forum, Museum, and Library buildings–is a dynamic hub built to foster the spirit of community that was central to the legacy and work of Congressman Lewis.
